ACHOO! SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Spring is a beautiful time of the year, but for many people who have allergies to it is a miserable time of year. If you are like me, the only thing that makes me feel more miserable than the stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, itchy skin and red, watery eyes, is the way I feel when I take an antihistamine or decongestant. Sometimes the side effects are worse than the condition being treated! Fortunately, there are several things we can do to naturally diminish or avoid allergies without side effects.

An allergy is a hypersensitive reaction to a normally harmless substance, such as grass or tree pollen. Allergies are actually the secondary symptoms to other underlying disorders -- primarily an inappropriate response by the immune system. Determining and treating the cause of this inappropriate response can be complicated, but there are some things we can all do: Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids, Omega 3 essential fatty acids, Probiotics, and extra Calcium / Magnesium are a few things you can take to regulate your immune system.

This is an area where homeopathy really shines! We can take combination remedies that treat the symptoms, or we can take antigen remedies. Remember that homeopathy operates under the idea that like cures like, so allergy antigens actually have the culprit pollen in homeopathic dilutions, preventatively enhancing the body’s immune systems response. Springtime in Oklahoma is a perfect time for the homeopathic remedies Weed & Grass and Tree.
