There is a lot of attention given to the hormonal woes of women experiencing menopause, but let's not forget about the men. After the age of 45 to 50 years, men commonly start experiencing some symptoms of declining testosterone levels, a condition known as andropause.
There are two types of andropause. In the first, the body simple does not make enough testosterone, and in the second, we have too much estrogen in relation to the testosterone. The cause of the excess estrogen may be over conversion of estrogen from testosterone by an enzyme called aromatase, or it may be due to the abundance of "xenoestrogens" in our environment and diet.

The symptoms are many and varied. Short term effects may include:
fatique
loss of muscle and endurance
decreased libido
forgetfulness
insomnia
increased perspiration and hot flashes
Long term effects may include such things as Erectile dysfunction, obesity, and osteoporosis.
